That time of year has come again and we are out an about. This year started with Bousie, our Stinson, doing a survey on the North Slope
Bousie is sporting my Grandfather’s skis which he had on his Stinson in 1948. It was a lot of fun rigging the skis and heading out the door with it for the first time. She has on a pair of Federal 2500A Straight skis.
It was a 4 beautiful days up on the slope, clear sky’s and cold. We then headed down to the Alaska Range where we hauled hay into some remote camps.
Miss the old Beaver, she’s a great bird, great times in the Arctic, on those occasions, forever etched in my memories. I am active still in sculpture work on our old friend Mammoth, searching the Bering Sea and Chukchi for salt water tusks, they are ‘gem grade’ with colors magnificent! Andreas says hello, recently married to a Bavarian girl, doing well still in the eye-glass design business and visits me twice a year in Bali. The only word I can think of is ‘Magic’ when I think of Dirk, the tundra and the amazing expanse of country waiting to be unlocked to free men. The history and prehistory that is more than willing to teach, to add memories to our lives and at once change them. But mostly, I miss our trips, your family and seeing you on the horizon brother! Love Bill Sidmore
Hope Aliy, Allen and guests have a fun time. Aliy and Allen desevre the “down time” to have fun in what they enjoy!! Weather is looking good…-20F at night and 0F during the day…perfect for dog and man! As usual, Kaz has (undoubtably)prepared some awesome meals. Don’t forget the Tang and heavy cream. Nothing better than homemade ice cream, at -20F, after a fun day.
