Meet Our crew
Our valuable, behind the scenes team that make our operation run smoothly and professionally.

Carrie Klein
Person in Charge
After many summers of auditioning, Dirk and Danielle finally let Carrie go pro a few years ago, “Pro at what?” you ask. Well, all things on the endless to-do list of a bush air taxi – obvious things like schlepping bags, getting the paperwork done, answering the phone and keeping clients informed of the always dynamic schedule at Coyote Air. Carrie keeps the pilots well fed, watered, and moving; she’s also Chief Dog Walker, Head Chef, Primary Gardener, and Ruler of the Cleaning Supplies. She’s getting pretty good at finding what you might need in Coldfoot or connecting you with the person who can. While she does sometimes visit her home in Palmer, AK to recharge, she’s looking forward to seeing all the Regulars who pass through every year and meeting those of you on your first visit.

Deriene Nickisch
Line Pilot
As a fourth-generation pilot on both sides, Deriene took her first ride in a bush plane in 1999. She loves showing people the beauty of aviation, whether she’s piloting a scenic flight or instructing aspiring aviators. When she isn’t flying, Deriene loves spending time with her dog Poppy, baking, and traveling. She hopes that her career in aviation will continue taking her to amazing places around the world.

Leo Hicker
Lead Mechanic
Leo grew up in the Brooks Range near Coldfoot, where his love for aviation was sparked by watching the Coyote Air planes flying overhead. After getting his pilot’s license and building an experimental airplane with his dad in high school, he got his A&P certificate and became an aircraft maintenance technician. He’s worked his way up to being our Lead Mechanic and keeps our fleet operating safely. When not working on airplanes, Leo spends his time rock climbing, hiking, and tinkering on projects.

Saeward Schillaci
Chief Minion
Saeward has been working in airplane maintenance at Coyote Air since 2024. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast with a background in backcountry aviation, Saeward enjoys keeping the planes in tip-top shape and helping customers have stellar adventures. As one of the newest members of the Coyote Air team, Saeward takes the responsibilities of Chief Minion very seriously.
